How To Spin An Article (Beginners)

Learning how to spin an article is very easy to pick up and can become a useful tool to have if you plan on submitting multiple articles on the web. In this post, I am going to focus on spinning an article manually. Yes, it takes longer, but in my opinion it will save you some editing time and it will help to maintain overall quality. Article Spinning can be tedious to do manually if your article is particularly long, so the goal of this post is to give you the basic knowledge you need to learn to speed up the process.

Why should you choose to manually spin articles? Two reasons:

Quality & Uniqueness
Article Spinning Requires Quality And Uniqueness

When I say quality, I am referring to the readability of the article and its content. An article that is not readable or that has irrelevant content will have a tough time getting published and an even tougher time getting traffic from that link. People want to read relevant information. If you can deliver relevant information in a well written article, people will be much more inclined to click on your links and to share your article on their websites, blogs, etc.

There is no real defined level of what constitutes a good % of uniqueness to have between articles, but I would say a general goal should be 60%. If you can hit anywhere above 60%, you are doing very well. Keep in mind that when you are writing articles, it will be impossible to be 100% unique and very difficult to even hit 80% unique because there are only so many different ways to say things. However, it’s important not to drop too low because your articles will start to look more and more like spam. This is especially true if you are submitting hundreds of similar articles on the web. You may want to get out as many articles as possible within a short period of time, but what good are those backlinks if they never get organically linked to? What value do those backlinks really have?

Automatic Article Spinning ~ My Two Cents

If you have ever read an article that has no flow or that contains words that don’t fit properly into a sentence structure, it is very possible that you are reading an automatically spun article. Instead of taking the time to input their own information and to manually spin the text, someone left it up to a program. This option may help create some unique content and only takes a matter of minutes, but it is often far from good quality.

It is not enough to just spin text by substituting synonyms for words. You also want to use variations in sentences and even paragraphs. By spinning content manually, you have the ability to choose the words and phrases that work as substitutes for your original text, thereby creating content that is relevant and unique. If done correctly, this process of adding and omitting words, phrases and paragraphs, should resemble writing multiple articles and spinning them together in a way that creates a series of unique articles.

How To Spin An Article

This post would not be complete without a brief step-by-step guide of how to spin an article. I use a free online article spinner called JetSpinner. It has a very user-friendly interface and has video tutorials that, if needed, will help lead you through the process of spinning your content. I find it is much easier to have a pre-made article completed and to simply copy & paste it into the body of the document. However, there is nothing stopping you from starting from scratch.

First, let’s go over THE BASICS:
1. Always start and end a word, sentence or paragraph that you want to be randomized with a bracket { }. (There will be a lot of brackets)
2. Placing a bar ( | ) between words, sentences or paragraphs acts as a separator that tells the program to randomly pick one of the options in between the brackets. Ex. {happy|glad} or {How are you doing?|What have you been up to lately?}
3. Do not just throw in a synonym as it suits you. Be sure it makes sense in the overall sentence structure.
4. Use many word variations within each sentence and try to use three or more variations of each sentence.
5. Where possible, randomize the paragraphs.
6. JetSpinner has its own AJAX Thesaurus built in to help you through the spinning process

The Title

The title is just as important to spin as the body text. The title is a focal point of the article and if it remains identical for all your articles, it will look suspicious to the search engines. Add new titles and change existing words, but remember to keep it relevant to the subject matter.

Spinning The Title

The Summary

The summary is the little snippet people glimpse at before clicking through to the actual page. I like to use a couple of sentences from my intro paragraph and to spin them to create my summary. Depending on the article subject, It needs to be interesting, informative and relevant. Give people a reason to click through to your article. Here’s a simplified example to give you an idea:

Spinning The Summary

The Body

The body will take the most amount of time to spin of any section. Luckily, JetSpinner has its own built-in Thesaurus, which will save you some time. For example, if you type in “{happy|”, it brings up:
Article Spinning Thesaurus To Find Synonyms

Choose a few synonyms that work in your sentence. Use this tool to your advantage.

The approach that I take to spinning my content is to always deal with sentences and paragraphs first. I suggest doing so, because once you have started to input synonyms for who knows how many words, it can get really cluttered. Either way, make sure to use many sentence variations and even paragraph variations when possible. Sometimes this may even mean omitting a sentence or paragraph as an option. To accomplish this, simply leave a blank space in between the brackets. Ex. {How are you doing?|{ }|What have you been up to lately?}

The Box

The Box section is for your Author Bio. Use this to put in your information and perhaps a link or two to a particular website. Make sure to come up with at least a few variations for this as well. Every little bit will help increase uniqueness.

# Of Spins

Depending on the amount of spins you want to do, it may require more effort on your part to increase the uniqueness of your articles. I generally spin 50 and then pick and choose between them. Once you are pleased with your newly spun article, press CREATE. This will give you an “X” number of new articles.

If you are worried about how unique your articles actually are, there is a useful sister program called JetChecker that will allow you to upload the zip file and check the uniqueness of its contents. Be sure to read over a few copies yourself to check for any mistakes you may have made during the spinning process. If you are still unsure of how to go about spinning your own article, here is a part Example of an article I spun recently for a review of a Zojirushi Coffee Maker.

In Conclusion…

Article Spinning, Content Spinning, Text Spinning or whatever you want to call it, can be a very useful tool to help save you time and effort when used correctly. I would advise you to stay away from automatic article spinning and to focus more on doing it manually. With information overload and very little time, people expect quality content and tend to stray away from the spam that some article spinners will spew out. You should be aiming to spin articles that you would want to read yourself. Article spinning still has many critics and rightfully so, but as long as you put an emphasis on quality and uniqueness throughout your process, by all means, spin away!
